Sunflowers

Our sunflowers are made with chalk pastels.  We were inspired by Van Gogh Sunflowers.  We started by outlining the different layers of the flower and leaves with white crayon.  Then we started at the top with pastels in order to prevent smudging (although it was still messy if you scratched your nose).  The last step was to add some additional colours for shading and gently smudged them!  Here are our works in progress and some finished products!  This is by far one of my favourite art projects I've ever done with a class!  They turned out beautiful and these pictures do not do them justice.
