Chrysanthemum

On Monday, we read the story Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.  This is the story of a little mouse who was excited about her first day of school until the other kids made fun of her long, unusual name.  In the story, the children hear about how words can hurt someone's feelings.  In the end, Chrysanthemum was excited to find out that her music teacher had a really long name too!  We talked about what happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
