Fire Safety Writing

After Firefighter Karen left, we wrote all about what we learned.

Fire Safety

We were so lucky to have a fire safety presentation from Firefighter Karen.  Not only did she talk about all of the things we need to know regarding fire safety, but she put on all of the heavy protective gear she needs to wear when going to a fire.  It was so cool!

Maritime Marionnettes

Today we saw a performance from the Maritime Marionnettes.  It was so cool how they were able to make the marionnettes move like a person and look like they're talking!  They also showed us how they used light and shadows on the other side of a screen to make a picture.

We love to have fun!

Mrs. Fenwick, our educational assistant, thought it was funny to take these pictures of us while we danced in the classroom.  We were singing along to Tooty Ta Ta as a brain and body break.

Math

In Math, we are continuing to work on number sense and beginning addition.  Here are some pictures of how we use counters, ten frames, and the paper & pencil work we do sometimes.  Ask your child about what they are doing in the pictures.  They should be able to explain how it works!

Our Writing

We are really working hard on our writing.  One of the skills we have been talking about is the concept of putting our stories in a logical order.  To do this, we are using the vocabulary of First, Then, Next, Finally.  Here is a sample of a shared writing activity I did with the class using the Smartboard.

Chinese New Year

We were fortunate to have Lu bring in treats for us to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  We read information on it from a story book, we looked at pictures from this year's celebrations in China (it's the year of the dragon), we watched videos of the amazing Dragon Dance, we popped bubble wrap to "hear" the fireworks, and discussed the significance of the packages Lu gave to each of us!  Thanks to Lu and his family for sharing this!
